Job Announcement

Title:  Plant Manager 
Location: Seattle, Washington
Dept.:  Manufacturing
Reports to: General Manager of Operations
Hours:  Full Time M/F

Summary:
Oversees all manufacturing departments, i.e., Boeing, Government-Use
Fabrication and Assembly, Injection Mold, with responsibility for all
facets of production which includes meeting manufacturing goals and
maintaining production schedules, employee safety and building security
and routine to complicated troubleshooting/decision-making.  Supervise,
develop, train, motivate, evaluate staff and manages functions that
directly support production and facility personnel.  

Responsibilities: 
Supervision of production managers to include planning, organization,
development, training, evaluating and coordination of all activities as
related to production responsibilities.
Improve morale by setting the required standard and consistently
rewarding for teamwork, attention to detail, accuracy, efficiency and
going-the-extra-mile.
Responsible for assisting in the development and execution of policies
and procedures within the established time frame, which will ensure
adherence to shift/company practices and policies.
Responsible for overseeing and assuring that routine maintenance and
housekeeping are performed to keep production equipment and tools
operating safely and efficiently.  This may include regular equipment
inspections.
Responsible for the requisitioning of supplies (limited purchase
authority).
Ensures safe and efficient operation by practicing exceptional
housekeeping and organizational skills.
Introduces new ideas and suggestions to improve and maintain systems.
Maintains hands-on awareness of manufacturing processes, capabilities
and constraints to provide valid and thorough information.
Keeps up effort to remain aware of new technologies, materials, etc.
that help to make LFB more competitive and efficient.
Provides direction and decision-making for a wide variety of unplanned
issues that can develop and require immediate attention.
Responsible for coordinating manufacturing activities and training with
other programs including the Deaf-Blind Program, Support Employment
Program and Human Resources.
Maintains overall vision that supports company mission by communicating
with employees on a regular basis, (i.e., shop meetings, small group
activities and individually).
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
College degree (BS or BA) preferred or equivalent work experience.  
Minimum five years supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing
environment.
Minimum seven years performing machinist duties, including demonstrated
ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Thorough knowledge of machine shop operations and processes, preferably
in a manufacturing environment with understanding of quality
requirements.
Ability to consistently perform all duties to a high level of quality.
Accuracy and attention to detail is an ongoing requirement.
Strong leadership skills with ability to act as coach, teacher and
auditor as required to develop staff.
Ability and desire to move a process forward, which includes
demonstrated flexibility, resulting in a solution to an unplanned or
emergency situation.
Excellent analytical skills.  Good advanced math concepts.  Semi-complex
and non-routine problem-solving experience is necessary.
Ability to work well with all levels and all departments within LFB.
Ability to work with diverse employees from all backgrounds, many that
may require special communication methods, i.e., Braille, large print,
interpreter, voice only.
