Hello All,

Well, I know I haven't been on the list much, but that doesn't mean I
am not reading. What an exciting start to February, eh? Anyway, this
is to remind you that the Seattle Chapter will be meeting this
Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 10 - 11:45am. We meet at the downtown
YMCA, 909 4th Street, between Madison and Marion. Kay Burrows has been
ill and unable to make the usual calls, so they are getting done, but
I ask that you help spread the word about our meeting. Bring a friend,
family member or another blind person you meet.

This month we have a full agenda and we will need to start on time and
end by 11:45am. This is because the YMCA closes at noon on Saturday
and the staff at the YMCA cannot leave us in the bilding "staffless"
(Yes, that is the word that was used when I talked with the people at
the Y). So we will begin the meeting with introductions and reading of
the minutes and the year end treasurer's report no later than 10:15am.
As we have elections this month, we will be very busy.

We will hear from Dr. Marc Maurer through the monthly presidential
release. At this meeting we will also hear from Mike Freeman, NFBW
President, regarding the Washington Seminar, recent legislation
regarding DSB and the WSSB and any other bits of state news that he
would like to add. Mike Mello will report on the recent developments
with the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library. We will have an
update on the Spring Conference and a brief plug for the National
Convention and the Race for Independance. So, as you can see this is a
packed agenda

Now, to make Doug Johnson happy, anyone who still has monies from any
of last years events, please bring them to Doug. Also, as you know,
annual dues are now payable. Annual dues for the NFBW Seattle Chapter
are $5 a year. Your dues must be current if you wish to run for office
or be a voting member of the chapter. If you would like to be a
lifetime member, just cut a check for $100! Anyone who still has Louis
Braille Coin money should please be sure to bring this with you. I
will bring more coins with me so anyone wishing to purchase them may.

I look forward to seeing you all at the meeting. It has been a true
pleasure serving as your Seattle Chapter president for the last six
years.

See you on Saturday.

Kristina Colcock
President, NFBW Greater Seattle Chapter
