Hi Janice,
My name is Marci Carpenter. I am a member of the National Federation of the Blind; Greater Seattle chapter. I'm so glad you found our list and that you are reaching out. I think I and my colleagues can offer you and your fiancé a lot of support and information. We do many things: share ideas about techniques about doing things as a blind person, helping blind people get the services and benefits they need, educating newly blinded people, their families, and the general public about the capabilities of blind people. 
The most important thing I can say here is that your fiancee can live a productive and happy life, and so can you.
