Seattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Felix Hernandez has been named the
winner of the 2010 American League Cy Young Award. Hernandez, 24, becomes
the second Mariners pitcher in club history to earn the prestigious honor,
joining Randy Johnson in 1995. Hernandez went 13-12 and led the AL with a
club-record 2.27 ERA in 32 starts in 2010. He also led the league with 30
quality starts, 249.2 innings pitched and a .212 opponent batting average,
and ranked 2nd with 232 strikeouts. He became the first AL pitcher since
Bret Saberhagen in 1989 to record 30 quality starts in a season. Over the
last two seasons, Felix has combined to go 32-17 with a 2.38 ERA and a Major
League-best 59 quality starts. FULL STORY »
