It seems all smartphones have this feature. My Blackjack2 says "from my windows mobile device". I turned of my signture feature.

I suspect Apple put it in by default as cheap advertising pure and simple. I left it in to call attention to the phone accessibility. As you say, people put guide dog names in signatures and few complain.
