Friends:
As many of you have heard the light of my life, my wife Nancy, passed away last
Friday, the 15th of October.  She died peacefully after a relativly short battle
with a rare form of brain cancer.  The obittuary we are putting in various newspapers
folllows.  Please keep me and my daughter Christina and son Matthew in your
thoughts and prayers

Nancy Kay Johnson, 66, of Port Orchard, Washington passed away on October 15th after a short battle with brain cancer. She is survived by her husband, Doug Johnson, daughter, Christina Seong and son, Matthew Johnson and older brothers John Anspach of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Dennis Anspach of Ada, Ohio and Rolland Anspach of Celina, Ohio, as well as many nieces and nephews.

 

She was born on July 17, 1944 in Lima, Ohio to her predeceased parents Charles and Goldie Anspach. She is the youngest of four children. Growing up in Ada, Ohio, Nancy attended Ohio Northern University for her undergraduate studies and later went on to receive her Masters in French from Michigan State University. 

 

Nancy married Doug Johnson on January 16, 1971in Ada, Ohio but quickly relocated to Anchorage, Alaska. After bearing the cold for eight years, Nancy and Doug moved to the Seattle area settling in Port Orchard, Washington.

 

After being a substitute high school teacher, Nancy took a position with U.S. Customs. And after 32 dedicated years, she retired in June 2007 as a Fines, Penalties and Forfeiture supervisor. 

 

Nancy was a member of First Lutheran Church of Port Orchard, the Seattle Children's Hospital Guild Association and several book clubs. She was also an avid world traveler visiting France, Japan, Amsterdam, Norway and Korea, just to name a few. 

 

Services will be held at First Lutheran Church in Port Orchard on Saturday October 30, 2010 at 1pm with a lunch reception following. Family and friends are welcome to attend to share memories and celebrate Nancy's life.
