> I received word earlier today that HB-2033 was amended during executive session in the House State Government and Tribal Affairs Committee today to exclude the State Library (including the Washington Talking Book and Braille Library) and the Oral History Project from entities that would be moved to the proposed new Heritage, Culture and the Arts Department. We've won a provisional victory. The bill still includes the fund transfer from the office of the Secretary of State to the new department but we stand a good chance of stopping this in the Senate.

> While we shouldn't yet celebrate, we may sigh with satisfaction. Thanks to all those who wrote letters and made phone calls to their legislators letting them know what a dumb idea it is to move the State Library and WTBBL from the purview of the Secretary of State.
