Hi all,
I hope the recruiting for Youth Slam is going well. We're looking forward to
seeing applications from each of our affiliates for both students and
volunteers. We want to make sure we keep you informed about what's happening
with the Youth Slam, so we'll be sending you bi-weekly updates throughout
the next few months. We'll also have teleconferences, and the next one is on
Wednesday January 19, 2011 at 8:30 EST at 1-800-264-8432, code: 714549. All
teleconferences will be on Eastern time.

Recruiting Tip
Check newspapers in your state to see if they publish a list of summer camps
in the spring, and get Youth Slam added to the list to help us get blind
students who don't know anything about the program. Use the following text.

Engineering and Math (STEM) Leadership Academy for Blind High School
Students
We are pleased to announce the third biennial NFB Youth Slam, which will be
taking place July 17-23, 2011. One hundred and fifty blind and low vision
students from all across the country will be selected to attend this
five-day adventure, to be held at Towson University in Towson, (near
Baltimore) Maryland, that will engage, inspire, and encourage the next
generation of blind youth to consider careers falsely believed to be
impossible for the blind.
If you are interested in attending the NFB Youth Slam, either as a student
participant, or as an adult volunteer, visit <http://www.blindscience.org/>
www.blindscience.org to complete an online application. Applications are
due by March 1, 2011.
