New Park on 19th Avenue & Madison Street!
In 2010, the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center (HSDC) on behalf of the following neighbors applied for the City of Seattle Parks and Recreation Department to purchase property on the southeast corner of 19th and Madison for the purpose of building a fully accessible sensory garden park for the area:

Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center
Mt. Zion Baptist Church
Seattle Works
Views at Madison Affordable Housing
Deaf-Blind Service Center
Helen Keller NW
League of Women Voters
NW Baptist Federal Credit Union
The Pride Foundation
Powerful Voices
Seattle Association for Jews with Disabilities/Jewish Family Services Neighborhood Residents

The funding was approved and the City purchased the property on April 29, 2011.
HSDC will lead the fundraising to raise money for development of the park and Seattle Works will lead the volunteer efforts to clean and maintain the park. The working title of the park (prior to the Parks Department naming process) is "Justice Park - Equal Access for All People, All Abilities". The park is tentatively scheduled to open December 2012.
