The Disability Resources for Students Office has an outstanding opportunity
for an Assistive Technology/Alternative Media Program Manager. The Assistive
Technology/Alternative Media Program Manager (AT/AMPM) is responsible for
managing, coordinating and supervising the production of activities and
functions of several of the Disability Resources for Students (DRS)
accommodation/service programs, ensuring the timely and effective provision
of accommodations for qualified students with disabilities in accordance
with state and federal guidelines and regulations.  Primary responsibilities
will include providing technical and instructional support to students with
disabilities using adaptive technology and other alternative media devices;
overseeing the production of the conversion of print to alternate formats
e.g., audio, large print, Braille, electronic text; staying current on
methods for and legal issues pertaining to print conversion to alternate
formats; serving as a resource and support to faculty and staff on assistive
technology and alternative media.  The (AT/AMPM) will also recruit, hire,
train and supervise volunteer and paid staff to assist in completing tasks
associated with assigned accommodation/service programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.      Manage and coordinate assigned accommodation/service programs to
include the Print Access Program (print conversion to alternate formats),
the Testing Center, Room Relocation, Alternative Furniture, Equipment Loan
Program, Library/Lab Aid service, Volunteer Program.
2.     Assess students with print disabilities to determine the most
effective and appropriate adaptive technology to use for print conversion to
alternate formats e.g., audio, large print, Braille, electronic text, etc.
3.     Provide technical and instructional support for students with
disabilities using adaptive technology as well as other alternative media
devices.
4.     Serve as a liaison between students and faculty to secure and produce
instructionally-related material into alternate formats in a timely manner.
5.     Provide technical and instructional assistance and support to faculty
and staff in the creation of accessible electronic materials and web pages
for students with disabilities.
6.     Maintain the confidentiality of student records and information.
7.     Maintain accurate and detailed records for each assigned
accommodation/service program to ensure and demonstrate the timely and
effective provision of services.
8.    Prepare a quarterly report for the Director for each assigned
accommodation/service program to include information on student usage,
summary of DRS service efforts, budget information and other pertinent or
requested information.
9.     Establish and maintain resource files for assigned
accommodation/service programs.
10.Maintain the DRS alternate format library of recorded and electronically
converted materials.
11.  Develop and recommend new policies and procedures to ensure the
effective and timely provision of accommodation and services within assigned
programs of responsibility.
12. Understand and appropriately apply, interpret and explain DRS and
University policies and procedures, state and federal rules, regulations and
laws.
13. Keep inventory and maintain records and files of acquired adaptive
software, equipment and supplies; establish and maintain appropriate
security procedures to minimize loss of software, equipment and supplies;
set appropriate methods and procedures to check in and out adaptive
equipment, materials and supplies to students.
14. Assist in the development, production and maintenance of an accessible
web site for DRS.
15. In coordination with Computing and Communications, ensure that DRS
computer hardware and software used for the production of alternative media
in the DRS office and Testing Center is appropriately installed, maintained
and remains operating at optimum levels.
16. Remain current on computer information systems technology and adaptive
technology.  Research, develop and recommend new or revised production
methods and technological applications to improve DRS
accommodations/services.  Maintain an awareness of the trends and technology
in alternative media for people with disabilities.
17. Implement and maintain a database production control system for assigned
accommodation/service programs.
18.Plan, prepare and monitor budget for each assigned accommodation/service
program.  Provide a written report to the Director on a quarterly basis as
to the status of each budget.
19. Recruit, hire, train and supervise volunteer and paid staff to assist in
completing tasks associate with assigned accommodation/service programs such
as readers to read textbooks or exams onto tape, editors to scan and convert
print materials to an electronic format, scribes to take dictation for an
exam, etc.
20.                       Establish and maintain positive and productive
working relationships with students, faculty, staff and others.
21. Other duties as assigned.
