Title:  Director of Public Relations & Fund Development

Location:  Spokane, Washington

Dept.:  Communications

Reports to:  Senior Director of Communications

Hours: Full-time-Day Shift

 

Summary: 

The Director of Public Relations & Fund Development (Director) is
responsible for growing and managing communications and charitable
fundraising for the Inland Northwest Lighthouse (INL) facility, as a part of
The Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc.'s (The Lighthouse) Communications
Department.  Responsibilities include supporting and developing the
volunteer INL Advisory Council; creating awareness about the blindness field
within the greater Spokane region by serving as local advocate and
spokesperson, in partnership with other Communications staff; providing
local management of fundraising events, corporate sponsorship, and donor
relations, in partnership with other Development team. Responsible for
creating opportunities for blind and low vision employees to be involved
and/or lead outreach activities. 

 

The Director is the primary staff to the Advisory Council and its
committees, including Communications Committee, Fundraising Committee, and
periodic event committees. Major ongoing work activities include working
closely with the Lighthouse President & CEO, Communications Staff
(especially Development Director and VP of Government Affairs), and Board
Support team in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new Advisory
Council members, Spokane-area annual fund and major prospects, board, major,
planned giving prospects and public officials. Strong communication and
relationship building with all INL Departments to keep them informed of
donor work, programs and services, upcoming events, community outreach
initiatives, internal and external messaging.
