I am in need of two types of volunteers. One group will be assigned a blind young person to work with over the time of the convention. As we did two years ago the mentor will help the mentee navigate the convention. The expectation is that the mentee will participate fully in the convention sessions. There will be activities to help the mentees to get acquainted and to understand how our organization functions. The second group, who may be the same people, will be asked to have an adjacent room to the young people to monitor the evening. This will allow the chaperone to monitor and make sure that the blind youth abide by curfew. This is a great opportunity to provide an important service to blind young people. The comments we received the last time we did this was universally positive. I know that some of the past participants are still in contact with their mentors. If you are hesitant and want more information please call me at (206)419-9555 or email me at cane.travel at gmail.com.
