Hi Ben and everybody. Good auction letter, but what most venders really want
is the 501 c. 3 number and status. Thanks.

Hi everyone,

Here's the text of the letter to be used for obtaining auction items for
this year's auction at the state convention in Vancouver. If you need a
word document copy, just send me an E-mail, and I'll get it to you. Not
certain that an attachment will make it to the list.

To Whom It May Concern:

The National Federation of the Blind of Washington (NFBW) is an organization
founded and run by blind persons to promote independence and positive
attitudes towards the blind and living as blind persons. Chapters of our
organization can be found in Seattle, Tacoma, Bremerton, Bellingham,
Vancouver, Sequim, Spokane, and Snohomish/King County.

This year, in an effort to raise funds to help in our efforts to provide
meaningful programs and assistance and to the public, the NFBW will conduct
a charitable auction on Saturday evening, October 22, 2011, immediately
following its annual Banquet meeting and dinner at the Hilton Hotel in
Vancouver, Washington. This event is held in conjunction with our annual
state convention. All members of the organization as well as interested
members of the general public are invited to join us...

By this letter, we are asking that your business consider graciously
donating products or services to be sold during the auction. Donations made
by contributors from Washington State will directly benefit programs and
initiatives for blind people here. Be assured that your business will
receive considerable recognition at the convention, and please know that
your voluntary donation is tax deductible. While all gifts are appreciated,
we request that your donations be valued at a minimum of $25.00 so that our
auction will have an array of attractive items for sale. Below you will find
a list of some of the programs this charitable auction will support.

1. NFBW state scholarships, in varying amounts totaling $5,000.00
annually, awarded to deserving blind college students;

2. NFB News-Line for the Blind, (r) a project in which the texts of
the Seattle Times and P.I., the Tacoma News Tribune, the Spokane Spokesman
Review, and some 300 other locally and nationally recognized newspapers and
magazines are produced in synthesized computer voice and made available
either on-line, or over the telephone via a national toll-free number and
local area telephone lines, for the benefit of registered blind users

3. The purchase and distribution of literature produced by and for the
NFB, which is designed to educate the general public about blindness, and;

4. The purchase of advocacy-related legal expenses for the benefit of
blind people disadvantaged by social, political, and economic barriers still
existing in Washington State.

Please feel free to give your auction contributions to the NFBW member who
approaches you presenting this letter, or we would be glad to make alternate
arrangements for delivery of your generous contribution. Should you have any
questions, please contact me, at your convenience, at (425) 830-8811, or
leave a message on the National Federation of the Blind of Washington
telephone number (425) 823-6380. Your assistance with this fund raising
effort is very much appreciated.

Very Truly Yours,

Bennett Prows
Auction Chair
National Federation of the Blind of Washington
