Becky:
If one is to take advantage of web pages using fancy coding that WASN'T
AROUND WHEN THE EARLIER VERSIONS CAME OUT, ONE HAS TO UPDATE/UPGRADE.
Also, the older versions of JAWS won't work with Office 2007 or 2010.
On the other hand, NVDA works better for some things. Best to have an
arsenal in one's toolkit.

Gloria, your Jaws will work with your computer. You don't normally have to
update when the company says to. I ran an old Jaws for years on my Windows
98 computer. Now I use Window Eyes and love it! Again I don't have to
update even going from system to system, opporating system it handled it
well, smile. My husband is using a Zoomtext that is six years old.
I have a friend using a Braille display that only runs with Jaws eight nine,
not sure. She is still fine and doesn't need to upgrade for what she does.
I often wondered as JAWS users update so much if the system just dies and
you have to upgrade. I was told that was not true as it is the same back
when I ran Windows 98 with JAWS.
There is a a couple of screen readers that you can pay for with monthly
payments. I know Window Eyes is one. Is it Saratech that is the other.
There is also a free one, but I don't know the name off the top of my head,
but it is like NVDA.
