Wow, how terrible!  I remember a few years ago a woman in North 
Carolina? was waiting at a busstop with her guide dog and this 
guy just drunk and just crashed in to the busstop, killing her 
dog and injuring her severely.  That was one of the two cases I 
know where charges were filed.  The other was in Salem where a 
man named John Dashney was hit earlier this summer.  He was 
severely injured as well, and the woman was charged with DUI.  
But those are the only two that I know of where there were 
charges.  It would probably be a tedious task to do all the 
research necessary to find out the stats for when charges have 
been filed and when not.    Peace,    Debby
