Debby, try holding the folded sections together as you separate the new
section. Then take the band at the end of the grip, and slip it around the
four sections. Now it shouldn't snap at you ever again, hugs.

I snap mine in the middle of the four sections. I put two folded sections
in each hand and pull. As soon as I feel them able to bend, I fold the two
sections down into four sections. Then make sure you slide the four sections
into the band at the end of the hand grip.

I wonder though, for Colorato do they give you the standard long rigid cane.
That would make sense to do so everyone is on an equal plane, like everyone
is blindfolded.

Hi Becky, actually when I was at the school for the blind in Oregon I only
had mobility once a week. So this is not a new fight. We did not use canes
on campus, either. Sure would have saved myself some skinned knees if I had
used mine. But I hated my cane. I'm trying to like the one I have now.
Lol. But it's a folding one which is handy at times, but the bands that
hold it together have been known to snap back and hit my wrist when I'm
trying to put the cane in its fold-up position. Grrffr! At
least my dog doesn't snap at my wrists. Lol. Peace, Debby
