[nfbwatlk] H.R. 7 American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Acts of 2012

Bob:

Absolutely right. Citizens (members of NFB or not) have the right, nay even
the duty, to contact their senators and representatives to make their views
known. I would never denigrate one's right to do this.

However, I don't think the final bill will look anything like what's being
discussed in the House.

Thanks for the clarification and keeping me honest. (grin)

Mike

Mike,

I'm sure it wasn't your intent. But, one might interpret from your
response that since the NFB has not taken a stand, that we as members should
not contact our Representative or Senator regarding this HR bill.
I agree, if the NFB has not taken a stand we should not imply that our
opinion is that of the NFB, when we contact our legislator. However, we as
members should not be discouraged in contacting his or her legislator in
expressing their opinion about an issue. There are benefits for our
legislators and their staff, in getting to know who they represent.

Julie should be commended in bringing it to our attention and also
appreciation for sharing her letter with us.

NFB has not taken a position on this bill. Frankly, it is so extreme that
it'll never pass the Senate so I wouldn't be overly-exercised about it.

receive from the gas tax. This would cut their funding by 50%. If this
passes, public transit will have to come before Congress every year and ask
for funding from the general fund. We have enough problems funding public
transit in our state we don't need to add this to it also.
