One more vote for transit!

,

We are so close.

Out-dated state law has locked transit agencies into volatile and regressive
funding sources. With declining funding, transit agencies have cut bus
service for millions of workers, students, and families.

Now there's a glimmer of hope. The House just passed two bills -- SB 6455
and SB 6582 -- that can help current the funding problem faced by transit
agencies.

All we need is the Senate to concur. But, passage is far from certain.
That's why we need you to send a letter to your senator right now and ask
them to support SB 6455 and SB 6582 as-is.

Tell your senator to support

I'm sure you've heard about what's happening in the Senate. On Friday three
Democrats used a rare procedural move to break ranks and pass a Republican
state budget without any notice or public hearing. That's the political
environment our transit bills are headed into.

I'm confident we can overcome this. We've got this far thanks to our
champions, great advocates, and hundreds of people just like you.

Rep. Judy Clibborn demonstrated great leadership in shepherding the bills
through her Transportation Committee and the House floor vote. Our advocates
in Olympia have worked tirelessly lobbying legislators and counting votes.

And the real heroes to date have been you. So far, you and other supporters
have sent more than 1,200 emails to your legislators. We are constantly
hearing from the legislative staff about the impact it's having on moving
votes.

We need you once again. No shenanigans, no tomfoolery. Let's get SB 6455 and
SB 6582 through the Senate as-is.

Send your letter now

Thank you for everything that you do and have done,

Sincerely,

Transportation Choices

P.S. These are two important transit bills. SB 6455 increases a variety of
transportation-related fees to fund transportation projects; with dedicated
and on-going funding for transit and bike & pedestrian safety programs. SB
6582 provides new local funding options, including giving Seattle a
voter-approved one-cent gas tax and other cities will get council approval
of up to $40 car tabs. Counties and transit agencies would get voter
approval of a progressive motor vehicle excise tax up to 1%. Please send
your letter now
