[nfbwatlk] What do you think about this?

Hi Kaye, well, that's an interesting question. The use of blind
as a metaphor has been used for centuries. Even in Scripture it
is used that way, Jesus making the comment that the Pharisees
were like blind guides. There are other metaphors too that have
been used for centuries. People refer to depression sometimes
like they're falling in to a hole. I don't know if we will ever
rid our speech of such metaphors. But I object to the particular
metaphor used in that article because it assumes that those with
one eye are the best of the worst. This whole use of blind as
metaphor is interesting-sometimes I've seen it in a book or story
and I totally got the concept they were discussing but sometimes
it's used in such a negative manner. I don't quite know how we
separate this out from how we or others feel about blindness, or
blind people in particular. (Sounds like a great discussion over
a meal and something good to drink. (Smile). Peace, Debby
