Hello folks,

As you may already know, Saturday night, the Seattle Folklore Society is
having its tribute to the life and music of Woody Guthrie, a very important
folk music legend, activist, and leader. Here is a personal invitation from
one of the performers.

Subject: Woody Guthrie Tribute Concert this Saturday Night

Hi Friends.
Bill Murlin here. Just a last minute blast from me to remind you of a
special concert this Saturday night to honor Woody Guthrie in his 100th
year. The show is at the Phinney Ridge Neighborhood Center, at 7:30pm.
Featured artists are Joel Rafael and the Wanderers.

Joel Rafael is one of the prominent interpreters of Guthrie music in the
recording industry today. Besides writing his own songs on many subjects,
Rafael is one of the few musicians chosen by the Woody Guthrie archives to
set previously unpublished Guthrie lyrics to music. Rafael has issued two
albums of such songs, scored by himself and some others. Rafael is an
annual performer at the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Oklahoma. He
also appears in a Kennedy Center tribute to Guthrie this fall. Rafael's
program will include stories, quotes, pictures and songs mostly focused on
Guthrie's legacy since his death. Rafael's appearances in the Northwest are
very rare despite his being a former Portland, Bellingham and Seattle area
resident. This is a great opportunity to see of the true Guthrie devotees
and a great song writer as well.

The Wanderers are myself and my singing partner Carl Allen. We have
performed Woody Guthrie's Columbia River songs for 25 years since I
published them in 1988. This year we have created a narrated program
covering Woody Guthrie's life in stories, quotes and songs. You'll hear
some of the great Guthrie songs and many of the things he had to say about
life and art.

Come prepared to sing along; there will be many songs you know. This will
be Seattle's major tribute to Guthrie's centennial year.

Thanks much.
