Hi Friends,
The Heart of Applebutter Hill by Donna W. Hill is now available on
Bookshare. It has recommendations by Writers' Division president
Robert Leslie Newman, Future Reflections editor and novelist Deborah
Kent Stein and recently retired Louisiana Center for the Blind Braille
 teacher Jerry Whittle among others.
It is a high school mystery adventure with excursions into fantasy for
general audiences (middle school and up), featuring several students
with disabilities including two blind students. The heroine is a
14-year-old girl who is legally blind, but like many of us was denied
nonvisual skills and is just starting to read Braille. Her guide dog,
 Curly Connor (aka the
Fluffer-Noodle) has a major part to play in solving the book's
mystery. An older student, who has been totally blind from birth is an
expert cane traveler and Braille reader. Print and all e-versions to
follow in a few weeks. Please pass the word in any way you can.
Thanks,
Donna & Hunter
