  Hi Sushil,

I remembered that you would be out of town this month. We will definitely miss you. Yes, Petra does have a nice selection of vegetarian menu items. Perhaps we can go there again later this year.

I'll call you sometime next week. When is your spring break? Have a good trip.

  Marci

Hello Marci, I'm away at a conference next three days; so, I'm going to miss the very interesting meeting agenda, particularly the meal at the end.

Let Cindy know that I Like her choice of a Mediterranean restaurant. They always have something vegetarian.still plan to have a chat with her regarding the new study I'm presently designing for this

Looking forward to seeing you all next month!

    Hello Everyone,

It's that time again. The Greater Seattle chapter meeting will be this Saturday, March 16th from 10:00 a.m. - noon at City University, 521 Wall St. We will be in a different meeting room for this month only; the Lucerne Room . It is located on the 1st floor on the left side of the lobby/atrium.

Bring $1 with you to be entered into a special drawing!

What's up for this month's meeting?

    * Meet other interesting blind people

    * Hear what blind children think about their blindness

    * Get the latest news about state and national legislation that may directly impact you as a blind person

    * Make plans for the NFB national convention

    * Help plan for events for blind children and their families in the Seattle School district

Also on this month's agenda is a topic discussed here on the listserv a couple of weeks ago. The initial question was concerning how a blind person's eyes appear to sighted people and their discomfort with our appearance. We will discuss appearance and how and when it is or isn't important to others, how to address coworkers discomfort with our blindness and ways to make us and those around us more at ease with us as blind people.

Starting with our April 20th meeting we will ask a different member each month to share with the chapter about her/his job; what the person actually does on the job and how they do job tasks as a blind person. This will include paid and vollunteer positions. I want to invite Federationists from othe chapters to come and share experiences with us throughout the year.

Snacks will be provided at the meeting, and the Starbucks at CityU is now open. It is located at the northeast corner of 5th and Battery (at the other end of the building). It is part of the CityU building has both an outside entrance and one inside the building..

Some of uss will be having lunch together after the meeting. The idea came up at our last meeting to go somewhere different for lunch after each meeting, and to have a different chapter member suggest a place each month. Everyone is welcome and each person pays her/his own way. This month Cindy Bennett has chosen Petra Mediterranean Bistro at 2501 4th Avenue. It is 2 blocks from our meeting place at the northwest corner of 4th and Wall. The entrance is on 4th. They have soups, salads, wraps, kabobs, a couple burgers and baklava. Prices range from $5 - $13. You can find their full menu online at www.petrabistro.com Please let me know by the end of the week if you plan to go. I think this is a good way to build our sense of cummunity, to eat some good food and some fun!

I hope to see many of you this Saturday!

    Marci Carpenter

    President

    Greater Seattle chapter

    National Federation of the Blind

    of Washington
