Francie, thank you for the hard work, the long hours, and the passion you have invested in the Access Fund and its clients. You have impacted the lives of every staff member and volunteer, and fervently (and successfully!) promoted access to technology and economic opportunity for people with disabilities. While the Access Fund serves Washington State, what you have done has had enormous impact on the national stage. It is truly incredible all that you have accomplished and there is no way to measure the full impact. It is a bittersweet moment for the Access Fund, but a much deserved retirement awaits! Congratulations, and thank you, again!!! 

We look forward to introducing everyone to the Washington Access Fund's new Executive Director, Jack Brummel, later this month! Keep an eye out for the announcement along with opportunities to bid farewell to Francie and to welcome the new Executive Director.

This webinar will cover SSA disability benefits (SSI and SSDI) regarding self-employment and overpayments that can be assessed when a person returns to work after being on a disability-based benefit. It will include an explanation of SSI and SSDI; how to report work and why; what is self-employment and how can it affect your ongoing entitlement to SSI or SSDI; how are overpayments caused by working self-employment and what can you do about it.

Disability advocates are encouraged to attend town-hall style meetings in their communities to let legislators know how important improved transportation services are to people with disabilities. Legislators are considering a plan to fix our state’s transportation problems and we need to ensure that they consider the needs of the disability community in their plan.
