Oh, and by the way, I was remiss in not mentioning the national representative, Everett Bacon. He and Carl Smith came from Utah, and both were excellent speakers and added a lot to the convention. Sean Walen also came as NABS president, and we were extremely lucky to have his vitality with us. So, it was great, and as Kaye says, Marci did a great job.

Yes, it was a mighty fine convention and Marci did a fine job, as did all of the presenters.

Well, the weekend resulted in a fantastic NFB of Washington convention. We had at least 90 people registered at this year's conference and festivities.
Marci Carpenter presided over her first state convention as President, (of course that's what presidents do, i.e. preside). Her agenda was packed with informative and entertaining speakers, there were luncheons that resulted in formation of new divisions, we awarded two scholarships and had much fun and a great time with friends old and new. I am always excited about the year ahead after our conventions, and this year was no exception.
WE welcomed Tracie Tonasket and Abby Griffith to the convention as this year's students who received the scholarships, and they participated in the development of the new National Association of Blind Students (NABS) division in Washington State. The parents got together at lunch on Saturday, and we have the nucleus of star parents of blind children. Dr. Dean Stenehjem was honored for his outstanding tenure as Superintendent of the Washington State School for the Blind, and Mike Freeman was recognized at the banquet for his long and very productive service as president of the National Federation of the Blind of Washington. He's definitely still with us, and will be for a long time.
Thanks to all who were there, and as time goes on, those who weren't will get all the details of this tremendous weekend at the Red Lion Hotel at SeaTac.
