The Opportunity: The WSDOT Office of Human Resources and Safety is currently hiring a Reasonable Accommodation / Leave Specialist to fill a Human Resource Consultant 4 vacancy in Olympia, Washington. The selected incumbent will serve as the senior human resource expert responsible for administering the agency program for compliance, administration, guidance, and resolution of issues under the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA), Washington Law Against Discrimination (WLAD), Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Washington Family Leave Act (WFLA), and the Washington State Shared Leave program. This position provides interpretation and explanation of WAC's, RCW's, Collective Bargaining Agreements, policies and procedures, as well as specific processes that apply to reasonable accommodation and legally protected leave. If you are a seasoned HR professional with demonstrated experience in complex reasonable accommodations and protected leave cases and thoroughly knowledgeable of the applicable laws, then you are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.
This position will:
* Serve as the statewide professional expert in reasonable accommodation and protected leave related subjects
* Provide expert professional advice to regional HR consultants, managers and employees statewide on reasonable accommodation and protected leave issues.
* Facilitate the interactive reasonable accommodation process for the agency's most complex cases with management, health care providers, employees and other stakeholders.
* Develop and implement training for regional HR consultants statewide regarding reasonable accommodations and protected leave.
* Provide policy and procedure recommendations and develop/modify policies for approval and implementation.
* Develop strategies and methods to facilitate reasonable accommodation and protected leave cases across the agency.
An ideal candidate for this position will have:
* At least four years' of broad-based professional human resource experience, which includes demonstrated experience administering the ADA, reasonable accommodation, and FMLA.
* Proven ability to facilitate the resolution of issues that regularly include intense and stressful interpersonal situations.
* A Bachelor's degree and PHR, SPHR or SHRM Certification is highly desired.
