Good Morning,

The Washington State Governor's Committee on Disability Issues and Employment is recruiting for the volunteer position of Chairperson.

The Committee is a nationally recognized leader in promoting equality, opportunity, independence, and full participation in life for persons with disabilities.  The membership of the Committee strives to promote the diversity of persons with disabilities by representing the widest possible range of constituent groups, geographical perspectives, ethnic origins and cultural heritage.  This position is appointed by the Governor and serves at his pleasure for a three-year term.

The primary responsibilities of the Chairperson are to lead and facilitate the Committee in working towards its common goals and objectives.  Responsibility of this volunteer position involves providing oversight direction of committee structure, policies, activities and general business.  In fulfilling this responsibility, the Chairperson directs and delegates the functions of Committee business to staff, Committee Members, Associates or others as needed.  The Chairperson works in partnership with the staff to achieve the goals of the Committee.
