Events Traffic Advisory for Tuesday, Jan. 17 – Sunday, Jan. 22
SEATTLE – The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city that may affect area traffic. Several rallies are planned on Friday, the 2017 Presidential Inauguration Day. On Saturday, about 30,000 people are expected to participate in a women’s equity and social justice march in Seattle.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 20:
Inauguration Day Student Walkout Rally <http://socialiststudents.net/student-walkouts/> : Seattle Central College Plaza, 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. About 250 people are expected to participate.
Immigrant and Refugee Defend Our Rights March <https://www.facebook.com/events/361546414222234/> : Rally at Judkins Park at 1 p.m. followed by a march starting at 2:30 p.m. to Westlake Park. The march route starts at 20th Ave S and S Weller St, heads north on 20th Ave S, west on S Jackson St, and north on 4th Ave to Westlake Park. About 525 people are expected to participate.
Inauguration Day Demonstration <https://www.facebook.com/events/335996453442603/> : Rally at Westlake Park from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. About 530 people are expected to participate.
Private Event at CenturyLink Field from 8 p.m. to midnight. Expect congestion and delays near the venue. About 20,000 people are expected to attend.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 21:
Womxn's March on Seattle <https://www.facebook.com/events/905054526294975> : Rally at Judkins Park followed by a march to Seattle Center beginning at 11am. From 20th Ave S and S Weller St, the route heads north on 20th Ave S, west on S Jackson St, north on 4th Ave, west on Denny Way, and north on 2nd Ave N into Seattle Center. About 30,000 people are expected to attend.
Ethiopian Orthodox Church Epiphany Celebration March: Seattle police will escort the procession from 24th Ave S and S Walker St, south on Martin Luther King Way, west on S McClellan to Kings Hall at 2929 27th Ave S. The march is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. About 600 people are expected to attend.
SATURDAY, JANUARY 21 AND SUNDAY, JANUARY 22:
Ethiopian Orthodox Church Annual Epiphany Procession: Procession starts at two different churches at 949 MLK Jr Way S and at 5500 S Roxbury St at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Both processions will merge at S Roxbury St and 51st Ave S and continue south on 51st Ave S to 11030 E Marginal Way. The processions return to the churches on Sunday at 3 p.m. About 650 people are expected each day.
