Subject: Register Now for Art Beyond Sight
March has two opportunities for visitors with low or no vision to tour the Seattle Art Museum! Both tours include visual descriptions of works from the museum's current special exhibitions. On Saturday, March 18th, starting at 1:30 pm, Art Beyond Sight will tour Seeing Nature: Landscape Masterworks from the Paul G. Allen Family Collection. On Wednesday, March 29th, Art Beyond Sight will tour Jacob Lawrence's Migration Series, starting at 1:00 pm. Please note the early start time for the March 29th tour.
Both tours in March will begin in Simons Board Room, located on the first floor of the museum. Visitors will be greeted by docents at First Ave. and University St., also known as the Hammering Man entrance-not the main entrance.
Visitors taking ACCESS transportation or taxi may request that someone meet them outside of the First Ave. and University St. entrance. Please request this assistance when you register. Docents can help all visitors with wayfinding to the Simons Board Room where the program will begin. The tour starts at 1:30 pm and lasts approximately 1.5 hours.
Admission to the Museum is free for all Art Beyond Sight participants, but advance registration is required. To register, email kelseyd at seattleartmuseum.org or call Kelsey Donahue at (206) 654-3133. Attendees are welcome to bring a companion on the Art Beyond Sight tour, free of charge. Please let us know when you register if you will be bringing a companion-including guide dogs.
When you register, you may also sign up for future tours. Additional Art Beyond Sight tours are scheduled on:
WED, April 19, 2017: Seeing Nature: Landscape Masterworks from the Paul G. Allen Collection
SAT, May 20, 2017: Native American Art from SAM's Permanent Collection
WED, June 21, 2017: Works at the Olympic Sculpture Park
All tours take place at Seattle Art Museum from 1:30-3:00 pm, with light refreshments and social time from 1:00-1:30 pm, unless noted otherwise.
Please share this information with other individuals that you think would be interested. We look forward to touring with you!
