Alliance of People with disAbilities rejoins Together Center
The Redmond Reporter
May 1, 2017
The Alliance of People with disAbilities has rejoined the Together Center campus. The agency is now located in the center's Suite C-1 at 16225 N.E. 87th St., Redmond.
The Alliance of People with disAbilities is an Independent Living Center for King County and provides a variety of services to any person in the community who has any type of disability, regardless of age. Programs include information and referral, independent living skills training, peer support, advocacy and helping people transition to the right supportive environment.
Robert Blumenfeld, program manager, noted, "Our mission is: People with disAbilities advocating for equality and choice. The alliance works hard to make our community more accessible, inclusive, and usable for everyone. We help people whatever their disability: there's no paperwork needed to come talk to us or begin a plan."
Staff work both in the C-1 office and out in the community. Walk-ins are welcome, or call for information or an appointment at (425) 998-5839.
A longtime tenant of the center, the alliance moved off-site when the agency outgrew their previous suite. Alliance programs are now located in three geographic areas, and to serve east King County, they have found the right size suite once again on the Together Center campus.
One of the first nonprofit multi-tenant centers in the nation, Together Center was designed first and foremost to lower barriers to finding help. More than 28,000 people from throughout East King County receive help from 22 agencies and other resources on the campus in Redmond each year. Major on-campus agencies include HealthPoint (medical and dental clinics), Sound Mental Health, Child Care Resources, Friends of Youth and many more.
