We are pleased to announce our 2017 NFB of Washington scholarship finalists; Jennifer Rotz and Jennelle Landgraf.
Jennifer will earn her AA from Clark College in Vancouver next spring and wants to continue her education at Washington State University-Vancouver. Initially she wants to work as a teacher’s aide and eventually become a teacher of blind children. Jennifer lives in Vancouver with her fiancé.
Jenelle Landgraf is in the first year of her Masters in Social Work degree at the University of Washington. She currently does grant writing consulting and works on a domestic violence crisis line. She wants to do grief counseling and eventually obtain a leadership position with a social justice organization. Jennelle lives in Leavenworth with her husband and two children.
We will award two scholarships at our convention banquet on Saturday, November 4; one for $2,000 and one for $3,000. Both women will be with us during the entire convention. Our scholarship program is one of our most important initiatives. It is proof that blind scholars can live the lives they want: blindness is not what holds them (or us) back.
Congratulations to Jennifer and Jennelle!
