City seeks contractors for outreach work to underrepresented communities



SEATTLE (August 18, 2017) - Seattle Department of Neighborhoods is seeking individuals to do paid outreach work to underrepresented communities in Seattle's neighborhoods. Known as Community Liaisons, these contractors are connected to their respective cultures and communities. Their main tasks are to provide:

  *   Fair and equitable facilitation (in native language, if needed) to culturally specific community groups.
  *   Feedback and expertise on cultural concerns and barriers.
  *   Planning, organizing, and execution of community workshops and events that parallel larger City-hosted meetings.
  *   Fluency in another language to provide quality translations and simultaneous interpretation (if applicable).



Community Liaisons are compensated independent contractors. The positions are generally flexible with any type of schedule and include either daytime or evening hours as well as some weekends. Projects are assigned on an as-needed basis. Excellent facilitation skills are a must.



We are seeking people in these communities:

  *   People with Disabilities
  *   Native American
  *   African American
  *   Certified interpreters/translators in the following languages: Korean, Thai, Tigrinya, Laotian, Russian, Amharic, Tagalog, and Vietnamese.
