[NFBWATLK] New version of HB 1706 passes the Senate

We won! A short time ago the Senate voted unanimously to adopt the new version of HB 1706. Please refer to my previous post for an explanation of the current bill. It took many hours of hard work by members of our affiliate and other disability advocates to keep this part of the bill alive. This one is a start and we will definitely come back with a broader piece of legislation next year. We also know more about the kind of opposition we had and how to address that. We will not give up until every disabled worker in Washington is paid at least the minimum wage. We will also start focusing on our national legislative agenda. More to come on that soon.
