[NFBWATLK] Accessible pedestrian signals in Seattle

Hi all,
I am wondering if anyone knows a way to expedite the installation of
accessible pedestrian signal at an intersection in Seattle? I recently
started to work in Seattle and in order to walk to the building I have
to cross a street that doesn't have an accessible signal. The traffic
on that street is too little to hear when it's safe to cross. Mobility
instructor from DSB told me that there is no safe way for me to cross
that street.
I found Michael Shaw from department of transportation of Seattle, who
doesn't seem to be very helpful about my APS installation request. He
told me that they have a queue of requests and that particular
intersection is in the queue and he couldn't provide me any estimated
time when they can actually install APS. In my experience if people
don't provide you an estimated time - then this is never going to
happen or will take ears.
My company might be even willing to pay for this request, yet Michael
Shaw doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Do you guys know any other
people (from Department of Transportation) or any other organisations
that might help to expedite this request? Also does anyone have any
experience how long does it typically take for them to install APS if
the request just sits in the queue?
Best
Tony
