The contract for naming the field was up with Safeco and therefore the
Mariners were offered a large amount of money for the naming rights to be
switched to T-Mobile! So for the next 20 or so years the field will be
called T-Mobile Park. Safeco had it from 1999 till 2019 and then that that
contract was up.
