Julie,
Good to see you on the list. The state convention was tremendous, as I said, but would have been even better if you could have made it. All the best, and hope to hear you on future At Large Chapter calls.

Bennett

Thank you to all who participated in and organized our 2019 NFB of Washington convention! Our workshops on Friday and breakout sessions on Saturday had high attendance and participation. The parents and youth sponsored by DSB were welcomed by everyone and the youth mentors did great job at the lunch on Saturday.
Congratulations to our newest NFB of Washington board members Jim Portillo and David Fair. Both will be great additions to our board and bring wonderful energy to our activities.
The Washington Association of Blind Students were very active at convention this year, from selling tickets to it’s 50-50 drawing to the high energy karaoke night on Friday to the packed room at the student meeting on Saturday this is a group of students on the move! The new officers of our student division are Isaac Heiman, President Shannon Donahue, Vice President Luc Gandarias, Secretary Amandeep Kaur, Treasurer
Congratulations to the new WAABS board!
Isaac Heiman was also our $3000 NFB of Washington scholarship winner this year. Isaac is in his second year at Western Washington University as a pre-med major. Nikki Palm was our $2000 scholarship winner. Nikki is studying secondary education through an online degree program with Grand Canyon University. Nikki is also the treasure of our Members At Large chapter. Congratulations to Isaac and Nikki!
This convention had the highest level of participation of any NFB of Washington convention since I have been serving as President. The energy, enthusiasm and love of the National Federation of the Blind were very evident this weekend. We have much to do in the year ahead. We made some great plans and my door is always open for you to give me your ideas for new directions for our affiliate. I am inspired and eager to work with all of you to bring the Federation message to even more blind people in Washington state and to carry that message with you to government, agencies and the general public. Let’s go build the National Federation of the Blind of Washington!
