Hi, All,
The NFB has a career mentoring program that people can sign up for if they would like to give assistance to blind individuals of transition age.
Although Washington is not yet a state with a program, mentors are welcome from anywhere.
Now, NFB has partnered with the Pearson corporate mentoring program, also known in education circles, see e-mail below.
To sign up for the NFB career mentoring program, go to
https://www.nfb.org/programs-services/career-mentoring
The e-mail below gives you instructions if you wish to be part of the NFB/Pearson program.

Subject: [NFB-Career-Mentors] Calling all mentors!
Dear NFB Career Mentors:
The National Federation of the Blind has partnered with Pearson in a collaborative mentoring program in which we invite you to participate.
Overview of the Pearson Corporate Disability Mentoring Program:
The Pearson Corporate Disability Mentoring Program is a six-month program already well underway in which sighted Pearson professionals are paired with blind young adults to provide blind mentees with greater access to beneficial workplace experiences and strategies, including knowledge of workplace culture and expectations, strategies for developing career-specific skills, access to informational interviews, and professional advice and guidance.
The NFB strives to match each mentoring pair with a successful blind professional who is available to: (1) answer blindness questions that might arise, (2) provide sensitivity and awareness training to the Pearson sighted professionals about blindness, and (3) encourage the sighted mentors to set high expectations for the blind young adults participating in the program.
Please reply as soon as possible with your name and current contact information indicating your interest.
This is an exciting innovative program and we have the most qualified mentors on blindness there is anywhere.
I look forward to hearing back from you directly.
With regards,
Maurice Peret, NOMCT
