Thanks for sharing this with us, Denise. I know that Jim had been battling health issues for quite some time.
Jim was one of the first leaders I met at my very first national convention. He was so welcoming, open and easy to talk with. Those traits have served as an inspiration for me Throughout my time in the Federation. His writings and his legacy will live on. He was a great leader who wanted all blind people to know about the National Federation of the Blind. My condolences to Sharon and their family.

He had a great life, working hard in the NFB at all times. Doctor Jernigan recognized Mr. Omvig as a tremendous asset to all of us in the Federation. He often represented us in the world of the National Industries for the blind activities, and was well equipped to help in all facets of our movement. I learned a lot from him, and he was a good writer of material for all of us to help us along the way.

He came to Washington several times to present to us and to attend our conversation. No arrangements have made at this time. You will be informed as we get more information.
