    Meeting Overview:

We have a bit of a change to announce from our chapter board. Starting
this meeting and future meetings going forward, we will have the
opportunity to order lunch, for those wishing to do so, while we start
up the meeting, at about 11:00 or so. This time, we will start our
meeting by playing the NFB Presidential Release for October, where we
will hear all updates concerning our organization at the national level.
So come find out about the latest happenings, and grab a bite.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Secondly, we will be discussing the events that our chapter, and some of
our members, are partaking in during Blind Equality Achievement Month.

  * The NFB is doing a nationwide protest
    <https://finance.yahoo.com/news/national-federation-blind-raise-awareness-160000644.html>to
raise awareness of the discrimination Blind and Low Vision people
face while riding on ride share platforms. The Uber / Lyft protest
will take place on October 15. Stay tuned for next month, when a
couple of our members will give us a full report of its outcomes.
  * The day after our chapter meeting, Sunday October 13, many local
organizations will partner with the Washington Talking Book and
Braille Library (WT BBL) for the annual White Cane Day Walk /
    <https://www.sos.wa.gov/events/2024-09/white-cane-day-walk-2024>Celebration.
This event will aim to create awareness of the independence, safety
and confidence our amazing tools for mobility can provide, and there
will be guest speakers, vendors, and a cane drive. Details can be
found on the link in this paragraph.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thirdly, we will have a discussion about our fundraising and other
efforts within our chapter, including continuing the work putting
together our committees. Any ideas for committees are welcome from
chapter members, or if you would like to be part of a committee, this
will be the time to make your voice heard!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Fourthly, speaking about having our voices heard, we will set aside some
time during our chapter meeting for voter registrations
<https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/elections/how-to-vote/register-to-vote>.
Yes, we will have a designated station where we will have someone assist
with registering to vote, including helping filling out registration
forms. Use a computer or phone? Get help with accessing the particular
web site and forms independently. Don't know how to use the computer? We
can help you get you into the system. If you would like to make your
voice heard during our upcoming elections, and need help, just stop by!
The voter registration form on the vote.wa.gov website is fully accessible.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

There will be so much more to look forward during our meeting, including
our business items. So come for the food, stay for the meeting, and
remember, we can live the life we want! Please contact our President,
Amandeep Kaur, or our Vice President, Kristin Geary, for more
information and details.

Thank You, and see you there!
