[NFBWATlk] Quickly Sharing a Resource with Y'all.

Hello NFBW Washingtonians!

I hope all are having a great time leading up to the Xmas holiday.
I just wanted to share a little resource I came up with, to the rest of the community here.
So, the other day, my cute and pragmatic partner, ChatGPT, and I, decided to collaborate on a programming quest to create a small app for conducting raffles, drawings, ETC. the long story short, I wanted to challenge my coding skills in HTML and web development. My chapter was looking for something to do a drawing of names for our 50-50 fundraiser for our December holiday party. The result that I came up with is actually pretty amazing, super accessible with screen readers, and very simplistic. I don’t know how clean and contrastful is for low vision, but works with JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, ETC.
The attached .HTML web page file takes strings of names, or whatever, separated by commas, hit the button below to pick winner, then bingo! You get the winner!
The app uses an ARIA live region to immediately announce the name, so no need to investigate the screen by tapping around or arrowing through so the response is, well, responsive and efficient! 😊
I also used it today to draw and randomize names for our “white Elefant” gift game for my all-sighted teacher’s holiday party where I was the only blind person and they all wanted to pick numbers using paper and pencil 😊
So, this thing works, and that’s why I decided to share with you all today. Feel free, as chapter and division leaders, to use in any of your fundraisers, drawings, games, you name it! You can copy email addresses, or whatever, separated by commas, and paste into the app, literally.
Also, as individuals please don’t hesitate to use in any of your games or anytime you want to randomize some choice in your life 😊
