The trend seems to be having thermostats work with devices like Amazon Alexa or with Google. That’s what we did. It works quite well. Of course, when things don’t work with the Amazon device, they really stopped working. We have a microwave that is supposed to be voice controlled Through the Amazon device. When it works, it’s great. When it doesn’t, the simplest thing is to rely on the old-fashioned push buttons, which are also there. I’m not sure how I feel about the SmartHome movement in general. Questions of surveillance of privacy are significant. They sure can be handy, though. I’m glad to be able to talk to people at our front door before I open it. Good luck finding a talking thermostat. If you find one that actually talks itself, I’d be interested in knowing about it. Mary Ellen.
