[Nfbwv-talk] update on Ed's condition

Dear Fellow Federationists,

Although I have been home since Easter, this is my first day for any serious
work at the computer. It has been interesting to read about how I was doing
two weeks ago, since otherwise I really don't remember much about it.

Last week was busy with stuff like learning to take and record vital signs;
showering independently; getting established with a home health nurse and
physical therapist; understanding my level of endurance; and getting some
rest along the way.

Yesterday's follow-up visit to the heart surgeon indicated that some initial
irregularities in heart rhythm have apparently corrected themselves, and so
the need for a pace maker is not very likely. Also, the big incision as
well as all of the little puncture wounds where tubes and wires were
inserted seem to be healing well without complication.

I am just trying to strike that balance between staying as active as
possible while not over exerting and causing any threat to the healing
process--not always an easy balance to strike!

Anyway, I won't bore you with any further details, but will say thanks to
all for so many good wishes and expressions of concern. I believe I have
read everything that has crossed the list and some individual messages as
well, and I really appreciate the kind words.

The radio show is in reruns for a few weeks, so perhaps I will have a chance
to work on some NFB stuff!

Cordially,

Ed

Subject: [Nfbwv-talk] update on Ed's condition

Hello, everyone,

I want to let all of you know that Ed is doing as well as can be expected.
He is off the ventilator and the feeding tube is gone, but he is on a
temporary pacemaker which regulates the heart rhythms. He is weak and he is
in some pain, but I think he will feel just a little better with every
passing day. I'll talk to him again tomorrow, but, in the meantime, I do
have some bad news. He says that he has temporarily lost his radio voice,
(smile.) Thank you all for your calls, thoughts and prayers. They all mean
so much to us.

Peace,
Karen
