For those of you who knew and remember Connie Newhouse, the former principal of the West Virginia School for the Blind, her father died recently. Please find below the obituary for her father:
Born Feb. 22, 1928, in Turtle Creek, Pa., Armand was the son of the late Hazel L. Bennett and Ruth (Delaplaine) Bennett.
He was a graduate of Capon Bridge High School, a lifelong farmer, and a heavy equipment operator for the WV DOH. Armand also was a member of the Zion Church of Christ where he served as Deacon, Elder, Superintendent, and Chairman of the Board.
Armand was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Joanna (Grapes) Bennett, on March 16, 2001.
Surviving are four daughters, Connie Newhouse and husband Jack of Augusta, Cindy Bowers of Boonsboro, Cathy See and husband Tony of Southampton, N.J., and Chris Brown and husband David of Winchester, Va.; one son, Clay Bennett and wife Cindy of Augusta; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eva Wolford and Donna Swisher, both of Augusta.
A memorial service will be held on Oct. 14, 2012, at the Zion Church of Christ at 1 p.m.
Private burial will be at the Augusta Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to: Zion Church of Christ, Eva Wolford, Treasurer, HC 71 Box 113C, Augusta, WV 26704.
All arrangements are being handled by the McKee Funeral Home of Augusta, W.Va. .
