NFB Family:

What a fantastic national convention! I hope by now that all of you have made it back home safely, and since our Federation work never stops, I hope that you are reenergized and ready for action.

As you all know, the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act established an advisory committee to examine how we can increase integrated and competitive employment for individuals with disabilities. During national convention, Dr. Schroeder and I reported that the committee is currently formulating their recommendations. The responsible phase-out of Section 14(c) must be one of the committee?s top recommendations, but it will only happen if we make our voices heard.

There are two ways to contact the committee. The easiest way is to go to

www.nfb.org/ice<http://www.nfb.org/ice>. Here, simply fill out the form, and a pre-drafted email will be automatically sent to the committee. Alternatively, you can email integratedcompetitiveemployment at dol.gov<mailto:integratedcompetitiveemployment at dol.gov>.
The comment deadline is Tuesday, July 28. Other groups have already gotten underway, so let?s make sure the Federation has the largest and most powerful blitz!

Thank you all for your help!

Yours in the fight for fair wages,

Rose

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
