Dear Fellow Federationists,

As we enter the final days of May, the convention arrangements are taking a considerable amount of our attention. While excitement for our 75th anniversary convention is high, we should seize the opportunity to remind all members that we need to find new ways to bring financial resources into our organization. I encourage each of you as our affiliate leaders, to find ways within your affiliate to expand participation in fund raising for our national programs. This might be through greater participation in the PAC plan, extensive promotion of our vehicle donation initiative, or inviting people to be virtual runners in our Dot Dash. Furthermore, you may have new innovative ways for us to increase our flow of dollars from the general public. Please continue to seek new means of fund raising and share your ideas with me.

Critical actions this week:

Guinness Conference Call:
There is a call scheduled for all affiliate presidents on Wednesday, June 3, at 8:00 p.m. Eastern to discuss recruitment for the Guinness World Record attempt. The call in number is 877-394-5901, and the access code is 4781852.

Hotels at convention:
Tomorrow we expect to have availability of hotel rooms at non-Rosen properties for the convention.

Preregistration deadline:
Convention preregistration closes Sunday, May 31. The preregistration fee for convention is $25 ($30 on-site) and the cost of a banquet ticket is $55 ($60 on-site). The link for preregistration is http://lx-web.nfb.org/convention/preregistration.php.

Reminders:

On July 8, 2015, in honor of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the National Federation of the Blind, we will attempt to set a world record by creating the largest umbrella mosaic. Please encourage those in your affiliate that are able to take part in this event to sign up at https://nfb.org/gwr so that we have a reasonably accurate count.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
