[Nfbwv-talk] Hi gang

Hi Darren,

It is so good to hear from you and receive some of your humor. I was thinking about you and Paula when they were talking so much about the Super Bowl. I don't blame you for avoiding all of the people, traffic, and headaches that comes from having such a large crowd descend on your area.

Yahoo is smart by not laying you off along with the others. It sounds like you are doing a great job educating them on accessibility and keeping things working for us. It would be great to see you and Paula at one of our conventions. When you are able to attend, we definitely want to put you on the agenda!!!

Charlene

Loving the humor on the list lately, as well as the hard news. I miss everyone back in WV and out there in cyberspace. BTW, if it is noon in cyberspace, what time is it in US eastern standard time?
In case you heard about the big 15% layoffs at Yahoo, I survived the cuts and so did our accessibility team. It was sad to see so many friends and colleagues leave, but at least the job market is good out here. We did lose a couple of our best engineers that really know accessibility, but we know how to train them and we are developing more all the time. One of my favorite things at Yahoo is teaching in our Geek Week program. It is an intense week of training for all of our new software engineers, and I get to lead off the program each week. I get to hit them with an hour of accessibility basics and then I have them all use their iPhones with VoiceOver. Then I charge them $20 to show them how to turn off VoiceOver.
:)
Although the timing is tough in the fall, I'll try over the next year or two to make it to a state convention and demo some of our apps. Fantasy baseball and football are great and very accessible.

Just keeping with the thread, it is our usual 75 and sunny here in Sunnyvale. Unfortunately no Jamboree out here, but I do vaguely remember going to one during my second sophomore year at WVU. The Super Bowl was about a mile from my place in San Jose, but I was hunkering down inside avoiding all the hoopla.

Darren

Hi Jack!

Yioyu should pay us a visit. *lol*

We will have a high probably around 72. Even as far away as we are, we can still monitor the Jamboree. *lol*

Cheers,
Dave

That's OK. I'm still figuring out what to do with today. I already forget what happened yesterday.

Just so you know, it's 20 degrees F. here and gloomy.
