Hi Debbi!

That sounds perfect for me to follow up.

Guess Google will show me where to get the program, so I'm only curious
about one little detail, if you could give me a bit more related info. What
kind of printer do you use for them? 

Don't like having to schedule eyes when it can be avoided, so if I can
regain that much freedom again, it would be worth investigating. 

Glad I brought the subject here.

David, I can still order raised line checks from my bank.  I did several
months ago.  Like you, I don't use them often, but I do still use them.
Mostly, though, I use the checks that I can put in the printer.  I use
Talking Checkbook and, in their manual, they give the contact information
for a check printing company and I usually order from them.  The raised line
checks I carry in my purse for those situations when I need a check and I am
not near my printer.

Hi all!

I guess it ultimately doesn't matter, in a way, because after all, if you
could even find a typewriter now, finding a ribbon for it would be a harder
accomplishment to achieve.

I can easily add more payees each rare time that I do need to send out a
check, but still, old habits die harder than more convenience can be
adopted.

While I'm not in danger of running out of checks since I rarely use them
here, I am now using the final book that was part of a batch that I bought
probably 12 or 13 years ago.  Told you, I don't use them real often here.

Anyway, I phoned the bank a few days ago to try to order new ones and struck
a birk wall if not pure ignorance.

Having come from an era now largely unfamiliar today, I use raised line
checks.  Some complained back when because they're larger than the bank's
typical check, but as all of us oldies know, putting them into a typewriter
was pretty much the independence key of our day, before plastic money was
widely adopted by the industry, so it was the way we always paid our bills.

Anyway, the nice gal at the bank sounded very intreagued by my description
of this legendary product she'd never heard of.  I spose the poor gal
thought where did this marcian come from, and probably was relieved when I
let her know that I appreciated her willingness to want to be helpful even
if I had sent her down a road she'd never travelled.  *lol.


This experience certainly shocked me, so I wondered am I as a valley girl
might say "like the last person on earth)  that still used raised line
checks? Heck, they even call them "cheques"  over here, so I don't know but
I kind of hope I'm not, but I (hope) we still have a typewriter in a closet.
You just never know...
