Congratulations to you both on this new venture in your lives.
We look forward to hearing about what you are doing on our
Braille Literacy concerence calls and we're so glad that you want
to continue to be a part of our division. The two of you have
been an inspiration and an asset to the NFBWV for many years, and
although you're leaving the state, you're not far away and we'll
meet regularly every three months.
Karen

Sheri,
Teri has been a real help to Barb and I. She may have been the
one who had
to "put up" with my strange book requests such as, "Can you find
a book
about snake handling churches?" Of course, she along with her
co-workers
came through. Thank you Teri.
We have news. We sold our property and will be moving both the
mission and
us to Grayson, Ky the weekend of July 23.
Don't panic, Saturday meeting still on at 5214 MacCorkle SW in
South
Charleston. Don't know KY address yet, but will be living in
married student
apt. block with office and work area in newly donated mission's
emphasis
building at Kentucky Christian University. Will have 5000 square
feet of
8000 square foot building for braille mission after remodeling.
And yes, in
the midst of this Barb and I are going to national Convention in
Orlando.
We'll only be a little West of Huntington just off of I-64.
Mike

Hi Sheri!
Sounds great to me. Go ahead and send it and I'll give it a go.
I have recalled her telling me she started in 1975, so that
means I was
twelve. Guess I was off by a couple years, but don't tell
anyone. *lol*
Cheers,
Dave

We also might consider nominating her for the non-Federationist
of the
year award. I'll be glad to send you the language if you're
interested in
writing it up and submitting it to the awards committee.

Hi all!
Have had a brain glitch lately. That is a bit embarrassing for
me,
but guess you olrder folks are more used to it so you'll
understand.
I couldn't remember my WV1A number, so I got myself awake this
morning before the library closed yesterday and called to get a
brain
reboot.
These kinds of things almost always will lead me to Terry
Mathenny,
pardon if I may be spelling her sirname incorrectly.
Anyway, we had a nice little chat, and she straightened out my
number,
so all should be fine now in my brain department.
Terry asked what I was going to do when she retired. I told her
that
better just never happen, because I don't think that would be
any good
for my sanity. She said she definitely was planning to retire
around
the end of this year.
Knowing that Terry is a state employee, I didn't want to ask for
more
specifics, so I can't be sure if she meant the fiscal year or
the
calendar year. I hope neither, but I guess retirement is
something we
all
go through.
I feel as if Terry has been part of the library since perhaps
the
world started turning, because I know she's been there at least
as
long as I started ordering books by myself. From memory, I
think I
was ten, just so yall can get the picture.
Anyway, it occurred to me that her longevity and remarkable
service to
us might be a worthy topic for a resolution at the state
convention
this
year.
Regardless of that, I thought it was news worth sharing here.
Cheers,
Dave
