Glenn Robert Wilson
BORN: November 18, 1947
DIED: July 27, 2017
LOCATION: South Charleston, West Virginia
Glenn Robert Wilson, 69, of South Charleston, WV, passed away peacefully on July 27 at home of natural causes.
Glenn enlisted in the United States Army in Cambridge, Ohio, and served as a meat inspector in Nashville and Chicago. He graduated from The Ohio State University and obtained a master's degree from West Virginia College of Graduate Studies. Glenn dedicated his life improving the lives of people with vision impairments. He worked as a teacher of blind and partially sighted students for Kanawha County Schools, Putnam County Schools, and West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services. Glenn saw himself as a teacher of computer skills and openly shared his talents with anyone who asked. In retirement, Glenn became an avid golfer and played the best round of his life the day before he died. He also enjoyed genealogy, renovation projects, researching everything, mystery novels, photography, and traveling to visit family/ friends.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Lloyd Glenn Wilson and Martha Rachel Knight Wilson, brother Walter William Wilson, niece Jennifer Cortney Holdren, and brother-in-law Randy Scott Flowers.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Joan Marie Kaul Wilson; his children Marie Rachel Lenhardt, Ian Robert Wilson, and Sean Ryan Wilson; his grandsons Aiden, Connor, Colin, and Micah; his soon to be born granddaughter; his sisters, Jean Marie Ainsco and Adele Rachel Flowers.
The Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Glenn Robert Wilson will be held on Tuesday, August 1st at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in South Charleston at 12:00 PM by Fr. Leon Alexander; friends may call one hour before Mass. A viewing will be held Monday, July 31st at Snodgrass Funeral Home in South Charleston from 6pm to 8pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Federation of the Blind of West Virginia, 5111 Staunton Ave. SE, Charleston, WV 25304 or by visiting www.nfb.org<http://www.nfb.org/>.
