Weekly Note 5/5/17
Dear WVSDB Community:
It is Teacher Appreciation Week! On behalf of the WVSDB administration team, THANK YOU teachers, residential care specialists, and teacher aides, for all you do for our students!! Your commitment, dedication, and passion is much appreciated!
Congratulations to Alessandra Vacchio, WVSD student, who was selected as the winner of the Golden Horseshoe Award. The ceremony took place earlier today at the State Capitol Complex. We are very proud of you, Alessandra!
A round of applause goes to the WVSB 2017 Senior class members, Jamie Crosser and Eula Coffman, for being selected as the Valedictorian and Salutatorian, respectively.
Last week, it was our pleasure to host the WVSDB Advisory Board. Board Members were on campus for the National Honor Society Induction ceremony, an event enjoyed by all in attendance. WVSDB is fortunate to have an Advisory Board whose members are incredibly supportive and affirming regarding our school, its students and staff.
I am pleased to announce that WVSDB has been awarded the Hampshire County Community Youth Mini Grant. The Hampshire Community Foundation has chosen to give $500 to our school to purchase aquatic exercise equipment in order to implement a therapeutic aquatic program for students with multi-sensory issues. Congratulations to Nathan Smith for his efforts to expand the after-school fitness programs.
Lastly, our Family-School Association members and staff have been keeping busy getting prepared for the 2nd annual Family-School Day Celebration on Saturday, May 20 with many exciting and fun activities and events for all ages. If you are interested in helping out as a volunteer for the May 20th event, please contact Priscilla Epperly at paepperly at k12.wv.us<mailto:paepperly at k12.wv.us>.
Respectfully yours,
