State treasurer brings 'WVABLE' program to Harrison County
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) - West Virginia State Treasurer John Perdue stopped by the Job Squad in Bridgeport today to talk about his new West Virginia Achieving a Better Life Experience, or 'WVABLE', program.
WVABLE helps individuals with disabilities save money for expenses such as rent, transportation, and education.
Individuals can save up to $15,000 a year in a WVABLE account without losing public benefits. Before they risked losing benefits after saving just $2,000.
The accounts come with a loadable credit card and will have features similar to a checking account, while also functioning like an investment account.
